Sturdy. Light weight. Combination security lock. Executive colour. Cabin approved. Smooth running wheels. Competitively priced.Ticks all the boxes however, this luggage has the edge on all of the other carry-on cases I’ve seen as it is EXPNDABLE! You get an extension of an additional 8cm which I haven’t see on any of the other cases of this size. Now even better for weekends away however, be aware that some airlines may not except the case in it’s expanded version as a carry on.

Fantastic case and I love that is has two zipped sections as opposed to the usual one, really helps to stop your clothing etc moving about 👍

A nice design but not indestructible. I suppose it’s a compromise between the weight and the robustness. In my first journey of two flights, it was damaged taking away slightly from its good looks. No further deterioration after a further four flights. A corner has got a small crease in after obvious mishandling. It’s still perfectly usable but the nice finish is marred. The inside two zipped liners are great for keeping each side separated, which is superior to most cases that only have one zipped retainer.

It’s a lovely navy blue colour. Expands if necessary. Plenty if inserts to make packing easier. Perfect for holidays. Size means it will go in the Hold on the plane. Very sturdy.

Although Lufthansa’s checked-in baggage policy on certain long haul flights allows 2 x 23kg suitcases, the maximum size of the suitcase (L + W + H) must not exceed 158 cm. My existing suitcase I’d used on other flights was way too big, so I decided to look for two suitcases optimized to these requirements. I looked at all suitcase reviews on Amazon and found the percentage of 5-star reviews for Hauptstadtkoffer products was pretty good relatively speaking. You will never find the perfect suitcase and there will always be some negative reviews.I first ordered a Hauptstadtkoffer – Spree. After it arrived, I then ordered a Hauptstadtkoffer – Mitte, the dimensions of which were optimal. I also liked the fact that the zip inside covers are provided on both halves of the suitcase. Unfortunately, for the Hauptstadtkoffer – Spree, the TSA lock malfunctioned when first programmed (luckily I trialed this with the suitcase still open). I phoned the company via their website contact number and they immediately sent me a replacement lock, though I had already left for my holidays by the time it arrived in the post. Both suitcases survived the rigours of the international flights, so overall I’m happy with the product and would recommend it.

Thought I’d risk trying a cheaper brand of luggage and what a mistake and waste of time it has been trying Haupstadtkoffer.Upon arrival the set looked good, felt a little flimsy at first touch. Unpacking the set, it didn’t get better. The outer shells are very soft. The telescopic handle felt loose and wobbled as if it was going to break, especially on the large case. The inner zips were not working correctly. On reviewing the English instructions we noticed they are wrong and different languages have different instructions! We set up the first two cases with our custom combination code, all good. But the mechanism on the large case failed, it was locked open and couldn’t be used or reset.Contacted their customer service. The customer service blamed me for setting it up incorrectly! Asked me to phone them and didn’t provide a number. Emailed them back, the number they sent back is international. Why do I need to speak to someone when I’m already speaking to you on email? Customer services said they could send me a new lock insert. Ok let’s do that. They need the full invoice from Amazon, can’t get it in the app, need to go on a computer. Send that to them. This is a week of emailing back and forth! Now they said they won’t send me the new lock insert until I’ve tried loosening the screws inside the case. No instructions were provided by them. So now I have to self repair my brand new luggage? Surely this invalidates warranty. At this point, I’ve had enough, these are going back to Amazon. To me this company stinks of a Chinese rebadge, poor products poor customer service. If this set was quarter or half the price I’d say it could be worth buying but absolutely not for the price I paid. This is not a premium set and not a premium company, so either save money and buy elsewhere or spend more money and go with a company you can trust to at least deliver working products.
